The Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Matilda Asante-Asiedu, has celebrated Ghanaian workers on the occasion of the May Day (Workers' Day) celebration.
May Day is recognised worldwide as a day to celebrate the contributions of workers.
In Ghana, it is marked with parades, speeches by labour leaders and government officials, and discussions on working conditions.
The day also brings workers together and draws attention to the struggles that have shaped the labour movement. Trade unions use the occasion to engage the government on wages, job security and workplace safety.
This year’s observance comes at a time when labour unions continue to push for better conditions and fair pay amid economic pressures.
The Trades Union Congress is expected to lead national activities to mark the day.
In a Facebook post, Mrs Asante-Asiedu said that "Today we celebrate the dedication and resilience of every worker contributing to national progress.
"Your efforts continue to shape Ghana’s growth."
