The Ghana Police has declared three more suspects in the deadly Berekum Chelsea bus robbery wanted and are appealing to the public for information that could lead to their arrest.
The suspects, who re currently on the run have been identified as Dauda, Huefe, and A.T.
The identification and names of the accomplices of the robbery attack came to light when the police arrested two suspects in the crime including the gang leader.
The suspects, identified as Mohammed Ahmed, also known as “I Can Do,” and Bawa Gideon, were apprehended on April 15, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation at Atimatim in Kumasi.
According to police, the operation was carried out by a joint team comprising personnel from the Police Intelligence Directorate Headquarters, Anti-Robbery Unit, CID Headquarters, and the Ashanti South and Ashanti Regional Police Commands.
The suspects reportedly attempted to flee and opened fire on officers during the operation, but were subdued and arrested.
Police retrieved several items from the suspects, including a pistol with two rounds of 32 ammunition, eleven BB cartridges, pepper spray, a locally made weapon, desert boots, mobile phones, and a black pullover.
During interrogation, Mohammed Ahmed is said to have admitted involvement in multiple robbery incidents, including the Nkawie robbery, the Fufuso mobile money vendor attack, and the attack involving the Berekum Chelsea team.
Mohammed Ahmed is currently receiving medical treatment under police guard at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, while Bawa Gideon remains in custody assisting investigations.
Authorities commended officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and also expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation.
Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to be put before court to face prosecution.
The robbery attack on the Ahyiresu–Kwame Dwumor Sreso (KDS) road in the Nyinahin District resulted in the death of Berekum Chelsea FC player, Dominic Frimpong.
Frimpong had joined Berekum Chelsea on loan from Aduana FC in January in a deal set to run until the end of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
He had been one of the emerging talents in the squad, making 13 league appearances and scoring two goals during the current campaign.
