Chinese Ambassador expresses China’s support for Ghana’s efforts to curb illegal mining
The newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Cong Song, stressed the importance of Chinese nationals in Ghana abiding by the country’s laws.


He expressed China’s support for Ghana’s efforts to curb illegal mining, noting that responsible business practices are essential for sustainable development and mutual benefit.

He said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed–Mubarak, reaffirming China’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation with Ghana.

During the meeting, the Ambassador described the Ministry of the Interior as a vital institution in Ghana’s governance and security architecture, emphasizing its central role in maintaining peace and stability.

He noted that the Chinese Embassy remains committed to promoting strong diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries and stands ready to work closely with the Ministry to advance shared interests.


Muntaka welcomed the Ambassador to Ghana and commended the positive working relationship between the Ministry, the Chinese Embassy, and the Chinese community in the country.

He emphasised the need for continued collaboration, particularly in areas such as capacity building, technology, and knowledge exchange to enhance the effectiveness of Ghana’s security services.

The Minister reiterated the importance of cooperation in addressing shared challenges and assured the Ambassador of the Ministry’s readiness to work closely with the Chinese Embassy to strengthen bilateral ties.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing optimism about the future of Ghana-China relations and a shared commitment to fostering peace, security, and development.
