Focus on Mahama’s reset agenda not his successor—Ayine to NDC members
Ghana’s Attorney General, Dominic Ayine, has urged party members and all stakeholders in the National Democratic Congress to focus on the president’s reset agenda.

He believes the early talk about who will succeed the president is a distraction that should not be given any oxygen.

The Bolgatanga East Member of Parliament believes that all efforts must be placed in ensuring the success of the current government because that will be the foundation for the 2028 electioneering campaign.

The Attorney General was speaking on Bolgatanga-based A1 Radio in an interview when he made this known.

“I am more interested in working to be a good Attorney General and serving the people of this country. I am not very keen on who succeeds the President. In fact, it is not something I think about regularly because I believe it is a distraction. The President has done just one year. We should allow him to continue working.

At the appropriate time after we have conducted our party elections and selected our branch, constituency, regional, and national executives then those who wish to contest can come forward,” he explained.

“We should be more interested in the welfare-enhancing programmes of the government than in who is going to succeed His Excellency,” he said.

Since John Dramani Mahama took over power in 2024, there have been talks about who will take the NDC’s leadership mantle since he has only one term as president.

There have been talks about the current chairman of the party, Asiedu Nketia, Chief of staff, Julius Debrah
