A middle-aged man who creates online content to insult the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has been apprehended by a group of macho men in a viral video circulating on social media.
In the footage, the suspect is seen kneeling with his hands tied behind his back while being surrounded by the group who nabbed him of disrespecting the revered Asantehene.
Reports indicate that the man has gained notoriety on social media for making provocative and insulting remarks about the revered monarch.
The video also shows some of the visibly angry men slapping and confronting him, demanding that he apologize for his comments.
Despite his usual online bravado, the suspect appeared terrified and speechless as he awaited transfer to the nearest police station.
Eyewitnesses say the group handed him over to Manhyia Police Station after the incident recorded on footage.
The incident has since triggered mixed reactions online, with some Ghanaians commending the men for standing up for tradition and respect, while others have condemned the use of mob justice, insisting that only the law should handle such offenses.
